red leylandii growths?

are these the flowers of Leylandii?

My book says male and female cones are seldom produced, but when they occur, the male cone forms at the tips of shoots, they are yellow and produce pollen in March (doesn't look lie these, but they might if they can also be red in colour).

Female cones are rounded, have eight scales, are green at first, becoming brown and are up to 3 cm across.

I guess you could watch them and see if they develop.

Unfortunately, there aren't any pictures.

They are the male flowers on a Lawson Cypress Chamaecyparis lawsoniana.
