| | | Re: Tree ID Think it must be bullatus. Common name of lacteus is Late Cotoneaster because it flowers later than the others. The leaves are quite small. Even if the berries are 10mm the leaves aren't much more than 6cm long, and the berries are most likely smaller than this. rehderi generally has much larger leaves than bullatus.
I think that traditionally the problem with Cotoneaster is that in the old keys you needed mature leaves (mid to late Summer), berries (Autumn) and flowers (now). The other problems are that some species can reproduce apomictically and there are also potentially hybrid swarms. |

Here's a photo of lacteus for comparison, taken from the central Bristol population on June 12th - as you can see, it's not yet in flower (hence the common name Late Cotoneaster  ) |
