| | | Identify 'bean' tree Hi
I'm trying to identify what I originally thought was an almond or walnut tree. It's growing in a sheltered spot near the Dorset coast.
I have posted 4 images:
I've tried without success and for a couple of years to identify it through books. But have just found this site - so I'm hopeful...
(I'm a new member - so let me know if I've not posted this query in the right place! Very impressed with the technology behind the site and, especially, the facility for uploading images. ) |

| | | Re: Identify 'bean' tree Hi Reg and welcome to WAB. Glad you like the site and you must be one of the few to upload shots without any gripes. I don't know much about trees but one of the members will ID the tree.
Ron

Yes, it does look like a Japanese Walnut, some good images of the features. The nut pod looks a little withered and would normally be green and sticky.
A nice interesting find. Have a go at planting the ripe nuts - I could find a home for a seedling! |

| | | Re: Identify 'bean' tree The last thing I want to do on WaB is to cause offence, hence my comment Paul. I was a tad annoyed to see the advert though and glad it was hastily removed. |

The nut pod was green until about the end of August I'll certainly have a go with planting the seeds and see what comes up (accidental joke). | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
