Small tree/shrub growing in the garden

There are a number of these small trees/shrubs coming up in the garden. I assume the seeds have blown in from somewhere, but no idea what they are. Can anyone tell from these photos?

English Elm, Ulmus procera. They seem to seed fairly prolifically, but mature trees are rare these days due to Dutch Elm Disease

Thanks for the ID. I have just read that the tree propogates by root suckers and that it dies back once it matures. I have found some large roots in the garden that don't appear to belong to any tree, perhaps the roots and these trees popping up are related.
