Unidentified tree

My wife found this tree growing in our garden which I subsequently put in a pot. We have no idea what it is and have searched the internet, read books etc all to no avail. Anyone have any ideas?

I think this might be a Sorbus, such as Swedish Whitebeam S. intermedia. The underside of the leaves should be whitish and felted.

Unfortunately there are no pictures in the Gallery.

That would be my identification too

I thought rowan whitebeam hybrid to start with but the basal leaves are not right.
