New Species of tree on Arran - Catacol whitebeam (Sorbus pseudomeincichii)
"A new species of tree that is not thought to grow anywhere else in the world has been found on an island off the west coast of Scotland."

BBC NEWS | Scotland | Glasgow and West | New species of tree discovered

I'm quite muddled about this report that was on "To-day" on R4 this am.

It doesn't seem to have bred on its own yet, seems to be a cross - any scientists out there care to comment ? Is it fair to call it a new species ?
