| | | Sycamore -from seed gathering. For the Breathing Spaces 2006 seed gathering weekend at the end of October, I planted a sycamore seed. This is it is now, 54cm and doing well. I haven't a clue where I can plant it as there is certainly no room in our garden so I will just repot it every now and then.
How are the seeds doing that other members planted? |

I spend most of my volunteering days getting rid of it! |

| | | Re: Sycamore -from seed gathering. While im sure your intentions are all good i think ill explain
The idea of the Springwatch/Breathing spaces seed hunt to was to collect seed from 6 of our NATIVE trees,
Scots Pine, Rowan, Hazel, Alder, Birch and of course our english OAK. |

I spend most of my volunteering days getting rid of it! | I chose a sycamore and an oak because I found the seeds on the pavement close to where I live, on the way to the shop and thought I would join in. If I hadn't spotted them I probably would have planted nothing. The acorn didn't grow. I didn't realise that sycamores are non native until you said, I live in Holland and I should imagine they are non native here aswell |

| | | Re: Sycamore -from seed gathering. European Sycamore are apparantly native from France east to poland, so they could well be a native of Holland
I've got around 6 Oak, 2 Beech, a Dog Rose and a Hazel in pots in the garden, growing them is easy it's just findig somewhere to put them which is the hard thing | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
