Help me ID this tree please

Hi, I'm new to the form but mad about trees. Can anyone help me ID this tree from an estate in Wiltshire. Oceanroc

Welcome Oceanroc If you post your photo to the Forum part of the Gallery then you don't have to wait for the moderators to approve it. You will see it immediately, then you can copy it by copying the address code at the bottom of your photo and then post it to the Forum.

if you load it into the "forum Gallery" you wont have to wait as this is unmoderated so images go straight in

I am trying to insert the picture. So here goes nothing.

Just a bit more info. The flower in the picture IS from the same tree as the bark. I know it looks a bit like a Lime flower but the bark just doesn't make sense. The estate has all kinds of exotic rhododendrons and magnolia so nothing can be ruled out. Any help would be very welcome! THanks.

Possibly Shagbark Hickory and the flower is the female? Does it have long (male) catkins as well?

There were no leaves on the tree when I took the photo last month. I will look again o nmy way to work today and try to take a better photo. Shagbark Hickory sounds interesting. I will look it up immediately!
