| | | Is it a good idea to have paypal or do you havre a better way !!! Hi Guys,
Want to know if it is better to sell your products on your own behalf, or opt for the pay pal,or opt for an alternative.

paypal doesnt protect you that well - check out boddies website Andrew Hunter Photography: CHOP CHOP out of here, if easily offended. for the saga he had with them - mind you they are probably better than nothing

Cath xxxxx | You don't say whether you want internet payment or could use cheque payment or maybe credit card.
Any internet transaction will be open to fraud but should not be if you are security-conscious. You will find that setting up a credit card account for the internet will cost money but, if you are careful, will mean that any fraud against your account will be covered by the CC company. By and large this is true with PayPal, especially in conjunction with EBay but, again, you need to be very careful about what information you give away, how you arrange transactions &c - don't send anything to a buyer until their money is firmly in your bank account as opposed to being acknowledged by EBay or PayPal!
Cheques are still legal and the safest way to do business - even though they take a little more time and attention.
Good luck |

I am not sure myself as yet of how to recieve payments...I have a paypal account, but have not used this facility yet..So was just wondering if it was the best way to go...
Might just be better to go the cheque route...
Many thanks Cath |

| | | Re: Is it a good idea to have paypal or do you havre a better way !!! Paypal are excellent and in my experience extremely reliable. I have never had a problem though if you sell abroad be prepared to send your item/s so it is traceable by post.
You can deposit money paid to you from paypal free to your bank account (£50 or more is free of fees and it takes about 5 -7 working days).
They do of course have fees for the service they provide and like ebay of which they are now owned.
Read the conditions when you sign up it pays to avoid misunderstandings you'd be surprised how many people don't and then complain because they have had a bad experience. They are very reliable in my experience (4 years).
Cheques are 'old hat@ and the sooner we get rid of them the better.
On a general note - Never ever respond to email requesting your login details PIN numbers etc reportedly from paypal, ebay or your bank etc.
They will never ask for this information by email. |

ebay (who also own paypal) have banned its use from their site however

Perhaps google should retaliate by setting up their own auction site and banning ebay from the googlead service which gets them a fair bit of their buisness

To be fair i have used paypal both as a buyer and a seller and have never had a problem that was not my fault. Main thing is not to send anything that you can't trace - some unscrupulus buyers will say they have not received it. |

| | | Re: Is it a good idea to have paypal or do you havre a better way !!! We buy most of our stuff on the internet now including on ebay and we always us the PayPal system without any problems whatsoever.
For peace of mind we have a bank account which we keep enough money in to use when buying on the internet. If there is any fraud going on at least our main bank account is safe from being cleared out, but so far we have never had any problems. | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | |
