Spring is back

At least it is here in Hertfordshire. Lovely sunny, warm day today, and I've spent the last hour rescuing visiting wildlife from my conservatory. So far a bumblebee I wasn't observant enough to identify properly, a comma and then a Brimstone butterfly, a hoverfly and a seven spot ladybird, who is now quite happy in the jar I used for the rescue and won't come out Various other unidentified insects are currently out of reach near the roof.

Nice here again, a bit chilly in the wind though but not stopping us from flashing up the BBQ this afternoon

Re: Spring is back

It is lovely this afternoon here in Coventry. Plenty of Bees buzzing around. A few Peacock Butterfly's have been sunning themselves and I have had my first Brimstone butterfly exploring the various plants I have in the garden.

Why couldn't it have been like this since last Thursday?

John

Re: Spring is back

A beautiful, sunny day in Essex after a cold, grey start .... but that wind is still a brisk north-easterly which is holding up the summer migrants.

Re: Spring is back

A brisk NE in London with glorious blue skies + a male Brimstone was in the front garden. We had a walk in the country park at the top of the road + there was more insect interest than birds!!

A couple of Peacocks, 3 Small/GV Whites that wouldn't allow a proper ID , queens of Red-tailed + Common Carder Bees, c15 7-spot + a 2-spot Ladybird + a hoverfly that settled for an ID- Eupeodes luniger. Lots of Nursery-web Spiders, Pisaura mirabilis + Xysticus sp Crab Spiders basking.

Tomorrow is supposed to be even better, so fingers crossed!

Re: Spring is back

Been a fantastic weekend weather wise in kent, Have spent the whole time out in the garden. Have rebuilt a drystone wall and dug over and started to level one area... ( well it was level till steve decided to let the dogs up with us and they decided they wanted to help dig to!!!! )

Even the birds got use to us and carried on feeding which was great to watch.
