There's a clear difference, I think, between someone describing the general appearance of a damselfly flitting over limpid water on a sunny Sunday afternoon (as a bit of atmospheric scene-setting) and someone saying, 'I saw this insect with a blue body, ...... &c, what is it? '.
Neither are "wrong" but if you want to get an insect identified then you need clear, precise and accurate descriptive data.
Why don't you give us a song?

Oh- I’m Bigbad The Wolf.
I’ve turned over a new leaf.
I’m not eating Grannies any more. (That’s good!)
They’re lumpy and they’re grumpy,
and they stick in your teeth.
I’d rather have a plate
of nice roast beef.
Red Riding Hood says,
‘It’s quite a relief!’
that I’m not eating Grannies any more!
That's the chorus. You can all join in!

However not everybody agrees with you or wishes to use a spellchecker - this being a free country we do not have to do so, and all that I ask is that you respect our right to hold differing opinions and views as i respect yours.
lets just agree to disagree and leave it at that. | You have done just that made it personal! It was not even directed at you or anyone in particular. Read my post! Good grief! |

| | | Re: Spelling Issues Aagh ... this gets to you when you're a male of a certain age.
But it was one of many Dubliners songs - the generality of which our family would sing over the family table with a game of cards and swig of poteen (that's not the right spelling, surely?) - actually, the lads had drinking chocolate and the rest of us had something equally Irish but more legal.
I think the Dubliners have stopped touring now - most of them are dead or nearly so ... sad Quote:

never mind though, life is too short too worry about what other people perceive me, my intelligence level or my command or the english langauge to be

It would probably die a natural death if people didn't keep bouncing it up the recent posts listings. Oh... |

As I started this thread can I be the one to call a halt to it. What started as a simple query about a spell checker has somehow transformed into song.
Thanks everyone for their input.

I was taught that using red or green ink was rude when writing letters (purple less so) but this doesn't seem to apply anymore - or does it?

It probably shouldn't, but it does, annoy me when colours are used |

i'll have to think of a new way to make my posts stand out....might have to make them interesting....
