Cat Attraction

What are my cats finding in our lawn that they go into absolute raptures about?

Both of them do it. They find something absolutely irresistable amongst the grass. Paddle it with their paws and spend ages rubbing their cheeks on it. I've looked to see whats there, but cannot see anything but grass. Thought it could be cat mint, but thats quite a large leaved plant and we don't have any growing anywhere else that could seed it.

Any suggestions please?

Could be other cats visiting, your cats are trying to cover the other cats scent, cats have scent glands in their paws mouths and backs and they are putting their scent over the other cats to say " this is our territory "

Re: Cat Attraction

Could it be that you have had foxes in your Garden? or some other animal that has left a scent ?

maybe it could be a strange scent in the grass that they enjoy, like another cat.

probably another cat has scent marked the lawn but cats like weird stuff i had a cat who found variously earwax irresistable, human male sweat and strangest of all matches. i wont describe how i found he like earwax so attractive but the sweat thing was when i finished work and got home if i layed on the sofa he went mad trying to nuzzle my armpits the matches thing was just found out by accident when i found all of my matchboxes ripped open and then found he could tell what hand i had a match in.
