| | | Re: The things we do to get a photo admittely mine was taken quite late in the day so you would expect the sky to be a bit lighter - but not to that extent
i think monitors are definitely to blame - beryl has just pm'd me to say that her original file is on its way by email , so we shall see

| | | Re: The things we do to get a photo Ok ok lets just leave it now. Most of us have normal monitors and both Beryl and I are amateur photographers that enjoy going out and about.I myself am having trouble with getting the settings right on my camera with the sun and bright blue sky today and I have just binned a lot of mine as I get confused with all the f stops etc.I tried auto everything and got rubbish I tried other settings and still they didn't look right. Its ok for those of you who have these fancy monitors and expensive cameras but most of us haven't and we belong to other sites where we get some lovely comments on our photos as they are like us with normal monitors and we are not professional.I think our photos should be judged on a normal monitor but that is just my opinion.I like what I am seeing i enjoy what I am doing.I am beginning to wish I had not bothered with the thread.I put it up for a laugh and now it has been taken over and the original subject has been ignored.I will not bother again to start my own threads I will just reply to threads with help if I can and praise where it is due.I would like a mod to delete my thread as this is not why I wrote it
Maybe you all think I am being touchy but I am now very upset and wish I had not started this thread.I find myself feeling I need to defend one of my best friends.Beryl has trouble with reading such long technical answers because as you know she is dyslexic and I have had to keep emailing her to try and explain what is being said instead of enjoying editing the photos I have got that are alright |

| | | Re: The things we do to get a photo Okay like I said time out okay : I'm not criticising beryl , and i'm not criticising you CB, My only intention was to explain why some of us are seeing different colours , not criticism intended of anybody : so can we please chill out and stop seeing offence where none is intended. (boddies last comment about havin a larf was directed at me okay)
Further I have only worked on beryls shot because she asked me too , if you dont like it thats fine , if you think the original is better then thats fine too , no one is judging anyone .... okay
anyway this is my take on beryls shot
and the one beryl originally put up
like i said not a massive difference , acording to my experimentation the diff is about 5% saturation in photoshop

| i didn't think you were criticizing me Pete.I just got upset that the thread turned out this way.it was posted for a laugh and I encouraged beryl to add the buzzard to get a positive ID.I have then spent the evening trying to explain to beryl what you were saying so she could understand it better and I probably didn't do that too well.I started to feel like piggy in the middle between three friends.I didn't take offense at Andrews comment as I knew it was intended for you.I am not that intelligent but neither am I stupid.I understand his humour as I have lived with it all my life with my family.I just wanted a laugh but now feel depressed and wish I hadnt bothered.
As Beryl says it is a matter of taste and I like both versions |

...the things we do to get good pictures? well, the best picture i have taken (and subsequently lost in a horrific computer crash, a long with nearly all my coursework )took me all day, under a bush, in the soaking wet waiting for a Weasel that was routinely crossing the garden. wicked picture and sadly never to repeated. but if i ever manage to recover it i'll post it! |

both of you | I am beginning to think I am a walking disaster Today we were in the park again and and we were stood on the same bridge watching the birds and hoping for a shot.Beryl kept saying for goodness sake dont take anything out of that camera bag
I could see the church clock and said to Beryl I will have to get a wriggle on or words to that effect We started to walk back then stopped again leaning on the rails talking and I had noticed a young lad leaning against the wall that holds up the school bridge which crosses the main road.I thought nothing of it as the kids were coming out as it was home time and thought he may be waiting for someone. As we turned I noticed he was laying on the floor so we walked quickly over to make sure he was ok.There were a few girls looking and talking and also wondering what to do.no one knew who he was and the girls said he just slid into a sitting position and just rolled over.he had rolled into a recovery position or as near as so there was no need to move him.He was out for the count.Despite being shaken and me shouting can you hear me there was no response.I checked he was breathing and felt for a pulse while Beryl called an ambulance.By this time there was a bit of a crowd forming but a couple of teachers came along and one covered him up with her coat and I ran to the road when i heard the siren to show the paramedic where it was.
She did the usual things then lifted his arm and let it drop.Still nothing. She then sat him up and kept shouting come on wake up.he suddenly came around and didn't know where he was let alone how he got there.I had suspected drink but he wasn't drunk.we left the paramedic to have a few words with him and then he went to the car with the paramedic.I hope the young man was ok but we did what we could after all even if it was drink or drugs you just cant just do nothing as it was very cold there out of the sun and he could have suffered hypothermia if it had been ignored.
Also it may not have had anything to do with drink or drugs he may have a condition where he suffers blackouts.Whatever it was he was walking along looking a little puzzled but looked fine and at least he was with an expert.Well that was our good deed for the day.One day Iwe will go out and have an ordinary day with plenty of birds about and no over excitement |

jaki | Thats if i go out.I was so tired tonight I fell asleep watching TV.I just woke up All this excitement must be to much for my poor old body.To top it all I had to bin most of my photos.Dont know how but The settings were all to cock.I think when I put it in the camera bag I must have moved the dial or something. When I rode to the park I didnt double check.Looked in viewfinder they looked ok but on the pooter they were rubbish. That will learn me | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
