Human genes in Plants

I saw this on the news this morning, Not sure what i think....
I have my reservations about it as it is going into the unknown.. I think it needs a lot more research and information.
Yet where would we be now if people hadn't taken risks over the years..
Cancer reseach, IVF, Penicilin, organ transplants to name a few!
If they find any major problems or dangers the Idea will be binned, so I will wait and see what happens.

You can just see these plants seeking out sun or shade as required and trogging off to the local.. er.. river when they are thirsty

When I read that they'd put human genes in rice, my first thought was.......Gondaleza.

I heard some comment on this news report in the car this morning but thought I must have misunderstood. Clearly not. I have a very bad feeling about this - mixing plant genes is one thing, but including human genes in plants is a real leap into the dark. It hasn't yet been finally approved, I gather, but it looks as though it will be. The company are saying the modification can't get into the food chain, but it's difficult to see what they can do to guarantee that, as they are intending to plant 3000 acres in the midst of other farmland.
