| | | Left Eye Dominant I was reading Oscars post on another thread where he said he was LEFT EYE DOMINANT and it reminded me of a recent conversation I had with Cherrybee and Eeyore. It appears I am left eye dominant too. I use my left eye for my cameras' viewfinder.
Is that strange or common? I just cant imagine using my right eye. By the way, I am right handed but would also normally drink a pint with my left hand. |

| | | Re: Left Eye Dominant As one of the poor down trodden left handed, I've always used the fact I was forced to play sports, such as golf, cricket etc, right handed as the perfect excuse of why I wasn't much good at them!
Who knows, I could have played for England if only the schools had left handed cricket bats. |

But then I had a friend at school who was left handed but played cricket/golf right handed so explain that one
But I must admit I am right eye dominant and cannot imagine trying to use my left eye |

I cannot imagine using the viewfinder with my left eye, though.

Jenny | I am left handed and left eyed in that I use left eye to viewer. Like Jenny I sew etc right handed. Jenny, do you use your cutlery right or left handed? I suspect many left handed people were taught to do other things right handed or copied from those who where right handed. I can also write fairly legibly with my right hand due to losing the use of my left hand for a year as a girl.

| | | Re: Left Eye Dominant I have a dominant L/eye,but will use knife and fork with either hand
I used to shoot L/handed but when asked if I had ever tried R/handed
I changed over and never looked back(I am "normally" Right handed)
I think that a lot of people are bullied into Right-handedness by schools
and parents so that they conform to the norm
Do not tell insurance companies that you are ambidexterous as you
could lose out in the unfortunate circumstance of losing a hand
A friend of mine used his camera upside-down, Left eyed, Left handed and could not use the shutter release properly otherwise
Look out for anglers cross winding a r/hand reel

jaki | Jaki, I use cutlery right-handed. We live in a mostly right-handed world and I think many left-handed people just learned to do things right-handed because there are more right-handed tools/equipment around - scissors, golf clubs, guitars, for example. It must be a real pain using left-handed scissors.
How do you thread a needle, Jaki? I hold the needle in my right hand and put the thread through with my left. I have been told that this is left-handed.
I have always had trouble with directions and I have always put this down to being left-handed (or ambidextrous). I am one of those people who has to hold a map upside down when I am travelling south I cannot reverse directions in my head.

I can do it both ways Jenny but tend to favour the needle in the left threaded from the right. I dont mind which way I do things so long as I can do them I cant use left handed scissors!!
I am lucky that finding my way has never been a problem I seem to have some sort of homing device but I have been known to turn a map to see the route better.. sort of looking 'down' the road. Perfectly logical Jenny
I have a wonderful fridge magnet .. which I might use as my signature.. but here it is anyway.
God made a few perfect people. The rest he made right handed!

| | | Re: Left Eye Dominant I am left handed and use my right eye for the view finder, I have never had any problems with learning most things – I can remember when I was a young girl being taught to sew and knit by my Grandmother, but she called me kack handed (Northern Term I think ) because I could not learn to crotchet with the needle in my right hand, still I got there in the end. I think it confused her more than me.

Like Jenny, I have great difficulty with maps.
I've even got a left-handed five-string banjo! (Can't play it!)
