Finished work at 23.00 and got into bed at 00.30 setting the alarm for 5am. Awoke to the sound of the alarm going off, up and dressed kettle on. Got all the gear together and loaded it into the boot of the car. Cup of coffee and a few lumps of toast and set off at 6am.
Traffic was nice and light along the A47 without much delay at Thorney Toll. Pulling into the picnic area just off the Dersingham bypass at 7.30am, Sausage bacon and egg all stuffed in a big bap and a mug of coffee all for the price of £2.80 now that did hit the spot.
Pulled into the reserve car park ......... the only one there, well it was only just gone 8am.
Coat and boots on scope over the shoulder and off I set, passing a sign that said paths might be a bit muddy (they wasn't joking either ). Wind in the face all the way to the first hide.
Views looking across the wash

Out to sea

With the old staithe straight out in front of the hide
Settling down to wait for the tide to come in. Window open scope all set up a few shots with the camera phone as seen above. Scanning the mudflats to see what was about. This caught my eye as it walked across the mud

taken with nokia camera phone hand held to the eye piece of my spotting scope
11am and still no high tide (must be something to do with the strong offshore wind ) it was time for me to make tracks back to the car park as the trip was to kill two birds with one stone (mind the pun). Arriving back at the car park, there must have been over 30 cars there not bad for a weekday.
Setting off for the second part of my trip (Infocus at Titchwell) been meaning to buy some new bins for a long time. The bloke there was very helpfull. Settling for the Delta 10x42 nice light and crisp image

Picture taken with (well thats another story)
Now for the long trip home and to catch up on some sleep. Never did get to see the wader roost (not this time) but I will be back down there soon.
