Clamp for my Viewing Scope

I struggled today with the tripod on my scope in the pokey little hide I was using this morning. A guy in there had a neat clamp device attached to the bench supporting his scope. I don't want to spend loads of money on something like this. Can anyone recommend something appropriate please?

Re: Clamp for my Viewing Scope

Hi
I have a Cullmann Hide Clamp, cost about £60. Sounds a lot of money but they are well worth it, could try eBay see if there is one around.
I guess there will be a cheaper model somewhere but sorry can't help on that.
Whatever you get the best of luck with it, don't think you will regret buying one

Re: Clamp for my Viewing Scope

Thanks Mick - I'll have a look. I was looking at cheaper models but they seemed pretty flimsy in comparison. Next thing will be a new lens and THAT will definitely be bank breaking time...

I do normally use a monopod in the hide which is much easier and less cumbersome than the tripod but I couldn't find it today.

Re: Clamp for my Viewing Scope

This is so frustrating. What I really want is something I've found called a Bogen 3424 into which you can slot the centre post of the tripod to give you plenty of movement, etc. However, I can't find a British stockist or an equivalent design. The item I'm referring to can be seen at the following link and if you click on the picture, you'll see what I'm trying to explain!

Bogen Manfrotto Column Clamp 3424 w/ Free UPS

Is there a UK equivalent?

Re: Clamp for my Viewing Scope

My husband suggests a standard G clamp complete with heavy duty jubilee clip and attaching my monpod to said contraption....

Hi Madelinew

Have a look here:
Green Witch Tripods and Clamps

They sell an Opticron lightweight hide clamp (Need to check it will cope with the Kg's of your scope) & Also a clamp to fit the centre pole of some of thier tripods - but will it fit yours?

I found these when looking at Travelscopes - trying to resist temptation!
Would really like a big scope but dont like the thought of carrying 4-5 Kg of scope + tripod as well as the camera refreshments etc.

Enjoy your watching

Bill

Hi Madeline,

Do a search for a Manfrotto 349. I think this is the European equivalent to the Bogen unit.
