Nice dog.. was it a Lurcher? Always liked them.
It sounds as though you all had a wonderful day. I will have to make more effort next time they are up in Norfolk.
Lovely pix Cherrybee, thank you for a very amusing report... had a few out loud laughs
jaki | The dogs belonged to the farmer and yes they were lurchers. When we got out of the car they had a good look inside and were very friendly dogs father and son. They were adorable and as for the lady in red he was interested in the ladies in the riding gear.
Ha ha after this report I dont think they will ever speak to me again. But i did warn them and they know I am going to do it.Seriously though They are lovely and we had a great time.Jackie is in her sixties and is retired and I am 54 with not the best of health so although we are tired and also aching all over it is a nice tiredness and gave us a great sense of achievment

That has to be one of the greatest and funniest reports I have read since joining.
It looked like such a fun day out (for some more than others I suspect ).
I would just like to thank you for sharing it with us, and so quickly, and I for one am definately looking forward to hearing all about your next adventure!!
I wonder if there is an award for 'Best Reporter of the Year' ? I think Cherrybee should be at the top of the list!!
A big thanks to all concerned in the making of this drama !! |

So long as no harm was done I'm sure the pair of them will take it in their stride. Can't wait to hear their version! |

| | | Aftere the rescue Well I thought you had better see something of the terrain we were walking.Pity we didn't see any wildlife but the views are spectacular and the difference of some of the walk was so strange one minute we are walking along a very pretty river with trees covered in lichen and moss and very beautiful and the around a corner to a desolate moor.Fantastic
Heading back
Downhill from here and it was raining
Where we had to cross the stream

| | | Re: Boddie's camping nightmare!! OK. I hold my hands up to an accurate, if not very embarassing, chain of events. I have no body else to blame except............ Pete. Mr Countryside. What you need to remember is that I am more of a city gent than a country squire and I felt that Petes reassurance was as good as his word but alas the rear wheel drive let me down (and another big boy had reassured me too) Its always boys bigger than me that get me into trouble. Always was (ask my mum), always will be.
So John is right, my butlers Vladamir and Malik, down at Eurowash, will be giving the car the once over in the morning.
It was a top day out though, loads of fun, and I really dont want the little matter of a stuck car to take the shine of a lovely weekend, so if we could draw a line under it that would be just great
Despite grotty weather we had a really nice walk and the girls did well to keep up. It was quite bleak up on the hills, but lovely landscape and I will certainly visit again, if only to return the 300 pounds of mud hanging off the bottom of my motor which belongs to a farmer who really should have left a sign up stating unsuitable for motorvehicles and halfwitts.
Charmain and Jackie were great fun although I still have to question Charmains photographic ability, as she failed to get my good side.
It was a weekend though but I have a mountain of soaked clothes to get through and again my tent needs drying out with no washing line.
Thanks girls for a lovely day. Hope to have another soon.

Andrew | Bloomin cheek. All sides were good so nowt wrong with my photos
Jackie and I are suffering badly today. We can hardly walk and I have done nothing but fall asleep. That has got to have been the hardest walk I have ever done but what a day.At the risk of ruining your image you were both lovely lads and gave us a day to remember. You were not the only ones to have got stuck in the fields that day so don't be so hard on yourselves.Just remember he got stuck too Why he didn't use the tractor in the first place I will never know. The spring and summer would show that part of the world of much better.Porlock and other areas around there are fantastic as is Watersmeet which is up the road a bit.Thank you again for the wonderful day.It also gave me one heck of an appetite as when I go t home hubby cooked a good old fry up.Didn't have the heart to tell him I had only eaten 2 and 1/2 hours b4 but I ate the lot and consumed a gallon of tea

jaki | What survival techniques. My claim to walking is a few miles along the Otter river taking photos and sitting down quite a few times for a rest. The only stops we managed was to stand still a few times and lean on a tree That was more of a route march for me

I also notice that cherrybee has been good enough not to mention the state of my tent - i bought it from millets on the previous thursday and thought that i'd got a real bargin as it was 17 notes down from 65 - one slight drawback though which did not become apparent til I put it up .... the colour scheme ... check it out in the background of CBs car pics , its the one on the left *holds head in hands*
