The way I see it .. if folk didnt want to keep it going no one would post on the thread, I am sorry you dont like it

I am sure that if Admin saw it as a problem something would have been said.

Re: How to bump up posts

We have been considering if we should end this, I personally don't care, I think it's pretty harmless and the three main contributors are obviously enjoying themselves!
We'd be far more relaxed if more contributed though....

Don't be surprised if one of us gets out of bed the wrong side one day and decides enough is enough..

does that really matter?

Sometimes I'm on the verge of asking for my post count to be taken away, are people really that bothered about upping their count? Personally I couldn't care less, I just enjoy certain threads - as do other people and I don't think anyone should be made to feel bad about that......

So? What is the problem with that?

I don't understand what the big deal is regarding number of posts anyway.

That's my opinion as well. I didn't want to state that in my first comment, sitting here with a post count of 7300+.

Re: How to bump up posts

I think the original idea was to have a bit of fun creating a story by adding 5 words. Perhaps im’e not a fun guy but I couldn’t see anything funny only dribble and as for a story I doubt there’s even a sentence in there.
To each their own I suppose.

Re: How to bump up posts

I've never placed much emphasis on my own post count and I'm sure many others are the same. Having said that, the idea of the post count and the titles of 'commander' etc are to reflect individuals' contributions to WAB. I suppose the intention is that this has been a meaningful contribution to debates and ID requests etc rather than in one or two community threads. I'm not claiming the individuals involved haven't made a wider contribution, I haven't actually looked at the thread in question so don't know who they are I'm just giving an alternative viewpoint.

I do love the light hearted posts.I haven't contributed because I can never think of anything witty. Most of us don't care about the post count it is not important. When I am feeling down which lately has been a lot I have only to come on here to have a laugh and to cheer me up and yes even Boddie makes me laugh even when he is being a pain sorry Boddie I like ya really. So keep it up peeps life's to short to be serious all the time

Surely Matt that no matter what the posts are about serious or not the people on them are contributing to WAB by cheering people up and lightening the mood.Which is sometimes needed as the debates can get a little heated at times and the the debates are entertaining in there own way too just to see how heated they get before Graham does his bit and jumps in at the right time

Oops I am bumping up my posts

Re: How to bump up posts

As Graham mentioned, we've looked at this and I'm still divided.

Good for the community and usually harmless, but too many similar threads or a runaway amount of post and it just blocks out other threads in the recent posts columns. It could also act as a vehicle for new members to effortlessly get over the 25 post limit, spam and then disappear.

I stopped reading the thread after about the tenth post as they're very hard to moderate, and I even thought about running it to the 1,000 post milestone then closing it.

Maybe we should close it and start ones about bird/mammal/fish/weather facts? Each post could have a single 'quick fire' fact and it would be more relevant and of greater interest to all members?

Stu

That sounds an excellent idea> i don't know any quick fire facts but with the net and my books I may find something to contribute and it can still be fun and light hearted

Come on then Stuart why dont you start one off.Go on I dare you

Re: How to bump up posts

This is certainly a way to increase your post-count (as is welcoming every newcomer, for example), but does it matter? I don't think many people really care what their count is, or what others' count is. If we wish to judge (generally we shouldn't, I think) it should be on the quality of folk's contribution.

It's only a problem if it interferes w
