Race for Life

I've signed up for the Race for Life again. It was such good fun last year and it raised lots of money for cancer research.

It is especially close to my heart this year because a few weeks ago my mum was diagnosed with cancer of the oesphagus.

I would love it if anyone could sponsor me.

Race for Life - Let's do it again!

Re: Race for Life

slight problem - i had a security alert from my bank the other day warning me not to use my cards online until further notice - apparently there is a big phishing scam on at the moment.

once that is past i will be happy to sign up - the race isnt for a while yet so there is plenty of time

I use verified by visa and also a card with little funds just for the web just in case.

Re: Race for Life

I am really grateful to the people who have donated so far from here, so many thanks to John, glsammy and Kayleigh. *hug*

I am sure there isn't a problem with this particularly site, Eeyore, otherwise I wouldn't suggest that people sponsor me that way .. however .. as you rightly say the race isn't until July and there is loads of time. I'm sure you are as good as your word.

Re: Race for Life

Thank you Oy and Smartie!!!

What a fantastic response I am getting from the WABbers - I knew you were a smashing lot.

I have had lots of lovely encouraging messages from people who have been affected by cancer one way or another. Hopefully with the money donated by you all future generations won't have to be.

as i understand it the issue isnt with specific sites - its to do with a phishing type trojan that infects your pc and records your card details when you use them on any site before emailing them to a third party - the bank says that it is not 100% guaranteed that anti spyware programmes will take this particular nasty out (as it is new and the it experts at norton macaffee etc are still working on a fix) and has sent out an advisory not to use card details on line or to use internet banking until they advise that it is safe to do so

i am indeed as good as my word and will put in 20 notes as soon as the banks panic is over

Re: Race for Life

Ahhhh - righty-ho. Well, I didn't know that. It makes sense to be cautious in that case.

And thank you.
