| | | Ode to Ecology Dedicated to all the members of Wild About Britain.
Once they were ten million,
now there's only two.
And, if one of them should die
there's nothing WE can do.
We built the towns and cities
where many of us dwell,
and didn't dream that we had built
a sprawling, urban hell.
We used up natures bounty
as if there was no ending.
The coal, the oil, the wood, the fish
it has been over spending.
Now problems are arising,
the planets getting warm.
"But using up these resources
can't really do US harm!"
The destruction can't continue.
Unless we play our part,
Nature could no longer be,
a living,breathing art.
But, as I sit here looking out
at the clear blue sky,
watching all the garden birds
flitting quietly by.
I have to think!
Nature will fight back, you know.
You only have to look.
What man has left, has been reclaimed,
and Natures closed the book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| | | Re: Ode to Ecology Great poem. I very much hope the optimistic ending turns out to be true - I fear though that by the time we've finished we'll have poisoned the world beyond recovery. |
