I've taken my camera out into the hide in the garden and set it up on the tripod thinking I would go out for half an hour and wait to see what birds come in as it's snowing outside and it would make a really nice picture.
Anyway, I've come inside and had a cup of coffee thinking I will leave it a few minutes and do a bit of housework before I go out and before I have to get ready to go to work.
Just looked out of the window and who is sitting there posing about 10 feet away from where my camera is set up... sparrowhawk. It's sitting there now as I type but I can't get out to the hide because I'll disturb it! Just typical!

Here's a picture taken from inside the house with my partners camera just to show you how close I could have been! 
Not a great picture I know but you can see the sparrowhawk sitting on the edge of the branch.

Doh!!! what you need is a tunnel!!
have to say, don't think much of the sparrowhawk's hunting strategy I think the other birds might just spot him sat out in the open like that!!! |
