I feel for all those poultry farmers trying to do the right thing and keep free range birds, they'll probably have to bring them indoors an awful thing in terms of welfare, the birds suffer terribly when you remove a freedom they're used to, they get depressed and sick and stop laying, for those farmers that really care about their birds - particularly the smaller scale producers many just cull their birds because they can't stand to see their animals suffer and they think it's kinder. Strict restrictions for too long a period could send many of them under ....  |
