| | | Re: Day Five Always a difficult one these things. I don't feel I know enough about the project to properly judge the situation - moving newts up to four times is clearly undesirable though.
I am quite worried that they feel Badgers are a risk to Children though........ |

| | | Re: Day Five The pond bat is a concern too, it is very very rare for the uk.
The place will take loads of energy to keep all the snow and ice frozen, after last nights very depressing news perhaps it will not get the go ahead to be built. |

| | Re: Day Five Do they really need a snow resort in Suffolk? There are numerous dry slope facilities here in the West Country which seem to fulfil the needs of the local alpine sports fans.
I am becoming increasingly fed up with reading stories like this. If these creatures are protected by law, British and EU then as far as I am concerned that's it; game over.
Why should commercial concerns with pots of money and fancy lawyers be able to flout the law? I'm not a gambler, but I'd wager they would be first in the queue to complain if this was on their golf course
I'm begining to think I have the wrong screen name; it should be Victor Meldrew

| | | Re: Day Five well...... there aren't exactly a lot of hills in East Anglia, that's a lot of kids that don't get to go sledging, I can see that there would be a market for this kind of thing. Plus although the Great Crested Newt is indeed protected East Anglia has quite a healthy population of them and I can imagine it must be difficult to find a site without any GCN, Badger or bat related issues particularly a large one. |

| | | Re: Day Five Fair point Gill. For some reason I clean forgot how flat that part of the world is.
As you say, there will probably be difficulty finding anywhere without some kind of wildlife or ecological issue. I just get ratty when faceless companies think all they need to do is throw large sums of money around to thwart protetctive laws
