I wasn't going to watch last night - I was reading a good book and I'm a bit Oddie'd out at present, but I'm glad Derek put it on as it was really interesting. I also want one of those hovercrafty things they use in the swamps. |

My second ever foreign wildlife trip was to Florida + it was amazing. We did boat trips from Fort Myers + saw the Manatees + Bottle-nosed Dolphins, while some Magnificent Frigatebirds sat on the Red Mangrove Trees.
Though not as many bird species as Texas, California + others, it's all so tame- various herons + waders feeding within feet. The dragonflies + butterflies were awesome. Alligators were great- just remember to run in a zig-zag if one chases you! |

| | | Re: Bill Oddie in t'USA I have found this series a lot better than I expected to, the US doesn't appeal to me at all and I didn't think it would interest me. I was proved wrong. As usual Bill Oddie presented this so enthusiastically, he's funny, obviously cares a great deal and explains without talking down to viewers(Definately one of my 3 ideal dinner party guests). The Manatees were so wonderful and those jays were a bit more friendly than the ones I see in the garden. |

He's been using a lot of JJ Cale - might have been him? |

Sounds interesting , I'd like to hear more! | Always an interesting selection of music on this show. Though it wasn't scheduled they broadcast this first on Tuesday, half hour after repeat from previous week was shown, so I'm racking my brain to the music. I rememember Doris Day "Black hills of Dakota", JJ Cale " They call me the Breeze" + some blues that sounded a bit like Howlin' Wolf, but I'm not sure.
I wonder if Bill selects the music as he's extremely passionate + knowledgeable about music + used to play an eclectic mix on the now defunct Jazz FM in London. Think he got the push as the music wasn't commercial enough. |

| | | Re: Bill Oddie in t'USA Last night's show included the quote of the decade. Bill was asking local residents if they believed that the sasquatch (bigfoot) existed, and one guy said:
"No - I've only seen it twice - if it existed I'd have seen it more often than that"
Enjoyed the footage of sea Otters and orcas. |
