| | | the Wildlife Trusts Today I joined the Wild Life Trusts, I am not much of a joiner but I have always had a sneaking respect for people who do put themselves out.
I have visited some of their sites and spoken to the people that use and maintain them, they seem to be enthusiastic to a fault. So there you are.
The average monthly donation seems very low at a £5, the facilities offered
are certainly worth more!!
I look forward to recieving my starter pack in 3 weeks time

| | | Re: the Wildlife Trusts now I am puzzled here since £5 a month is £60 per annum. Which is what I pay for the RSPB and WWT combined.
pretty certain I pay no more than about £25 annually for Essex and Norfolk is £27.
For H's info Berks Bucks and Ox is £30 but they do send you a book of county reserves. |

| | | Re: the Wildlife Trusts Funnily enough, I have just been talking to a rep from the Wildlife Trust, and they say that each trust has a minimum amount members can pay each month. I think it's a little confusing to be honest. |

Joining Essex doesn't get free entry in to say Norfolk trust reserves and vice versa. That said they do a lot of work keeping small reserves open and most are free to everyone.
H - every trust has a different amount! I joined Essex but really I should have joined Norfolk IF i was after personal value for money - would have got it back this year in free entrance fees. |

| | | Re: the Wildlife Trusts The thing with the Wildlife Trusts is that we are a partnership of 47 separate charities all doing similar work and sharing a Royal Charter.
We (I work for my local Wildlife Trust) are all run indepenently by local people and all set our membership rates locally - although it is possible to join up via our shared national web site. The rate for this was chosen to make it possible for people to join up over the web.
Most (if not all) have a minimum membership rate and accept donations over and above this as indicated by nightshade.
It can sometimes seem confusing but the fact that we are 47 separate local charities really is our strength as we are able to work very effectively at the local level, with over nature reserves and a huge number of volunteers.
Hope this helps

| | | Re: the Wildlife Trusts Excellent, thanks for clearing things up, although I do stand by what I said regarding the website; it is confusing, especially when one talks to a volunteer who is trying to get people to join on the street!
