Since I'm having a learning day, can anyone tell me why, when someone's post says 'attached thumbnails' I see nothing?

I've noticed it on several threads. Can't remember which ones. Think the mugshot one was one of them.

The only thing I know about this is that at some point there was an image with the post and it's no longer available for some reason. Why it says attached thumbnails I have no idea because normally if the image is no longer available which causes a broken hyperlink you just get a red cross in it's place.

There's a little red cross too. As long as it's not something I'm doing wrong that everyone else understands and I don't! Duh!

Is n't the reason to do with the last major overall done on the site. Was n't there a a facility to attach images and that was removed and replaced by the Forum Images in the galleries?

for technical reasons having images in the gallery does not cause the same problem.
however the missing thumbnails should manifest as an empty outline box - where you get the little white box and red cross this is either a broken / incorrect link to another site or a link to the gallery where the picture has been deleted.
