| | | The Roadkill Chef We don't have a cookery forum on WAB but I thought I would start this message thread here.
Now sometimes my culinary skills are questioned but preparing a dinner from roadkill victims is probably even beyond me .
Those that can receive BBC3 may wish to tune in tomorrow at 9 p.m. to "The Roadkill Chef" .... Fergus Drennan attempts to change the eating habits of an entire town in Kent by throwing a feast for the community using only ingredients he has foraged from the area.
For those that are squeamish, I suggest that you have your normal dinner before the 9 p.m. watershed .
More information .... Perfect meals for hungry road hogs
It could only happen in Kent .... sorry Julie .

| | | The Road Kill Chef Merged with the Above Thread: -
Just thought other WAB members might be interested in watching this programme..
'Fergus Drennan is a veggie as far as the only meat he eats are animals killed on our roads after being hit by passing traffic'.... This is a one off programme on BBC3 Tomorrow ( Tuesday) where he has 3 weeks to convert residents of Sandwich in Kent to as he says "The Delights of Wild Food"
I saw an extract from it a few days ago and it looks really Interesting!! |

Actually on reflection, you want to see what a lot of south Essex folk feed on regularly.
Those roadside chicken and burger takeaways are particularly popular .... now THAT is worrying in terms of human evolution .

| | | Re: The Roadkill Chef I always think that the animals that get killed are the ones out of all their species who 'weren't feeling very well', and that's why they didn't make it to the other side. Most of us wouldn't want to eat any farm animal that was ill before it was killed, so why would you want to set out to eat a sick animal covered in mud and with splinters of crushed bone?
Sorry to be graphic, but people so often talk about this as if it's a possible menu choice.
NO? DON'T EAT IT!!!!! Didn't your mother, when you were young, and in the garden chewing, and holding half a worm, take away the half worm, and make you spit out what you were chewing?

Richard | He he. You're probably right Richard. Living as close as I do to the A2, probably the only thing you could make out of the roadkill over here is pate...know what I mean!

I must say that my wife has only ever got one kill which was a pheasant - I would have been quite happy to collect and eat it but wasn't allowed
On the other hand, even healthy birds/animals can be caught by motorists travelling too fast. I could see a good TV programme where speeding killers were caught and made to eat the road-kill .... |

| | | Re: The Road Kill Chef Theres a chap down here in Cornwal - Arthur Boyt, whose been eating roadkill regularly for the last 30 years. He's got a biology degree so think he should know what he is doing. He's recently written a book about it and been on various chat shows etc.
Not sure if I like the idea but its definately eco friendly! BBC NEWS | England | Cornwall | Roadkill fan penning recipe book |

Especially The road kill bit and when they had to break before going into river of Croc's.. But best bit has to be when they were attacked in the garage...This programme is true entertainment. | | | |
