Re: Long-tailed tits

I think all the birds are at their best now ready for attracting mates.
I saw four Jays this morning and their colours looked absolutely beautiful.

Re: Long-tailed tits

Long tailed tits are one of my favourite little birds. The juveniles appear pink to me and have a lovely pinky rim to their eyes.

They aren't the brightest of birds though. When I have watched bird ringers a few times a flock of LTTs can be a nightmare. They all fly into the nets and after being freed/data collected and released the little critters will fly straight back into the nets again. They have to be recorded all over again and they continually do this until the nets are taken down. Arrrrggghh!

Like it - we've got a small flock wintering with us nearly 400m up in the Dales, at least three miles from the next bit of woodland. Come every year and it's pretty wild up here at the moment so they must be pretty tough as well as just pretty.

Re: Long-tailed tits

Whooohooooo! I've just had my first LTTs in the garden. I could hear them calling this morning but couldn't see them, and but I spotted them just now on the feeders.

Flying spoons!
