| | | Yorkshire Air Ambulance Yorkshire air ambulance were out on Snake Pass in the Peak District yesterday when we pulled over in a lay-by to look at the views and a Yorkshire air ambulance helicopter flew alongside us and landed on the road 30ft away.
Despite being the middle of the holidays with sub-zero temperatures and only about an hour of light left, the mountain rescue team were full of beans and headed off into a valley 1/2 a mile away. Incredible to think that these guys are charity-funded volunteers and that the helicopter has to carry sponsorship to provide an emergency service. |

| | | Re: Yorkshire Air Ambulance I have always supported the cornish air ambulance, many years ago the cost was something like £90 a minute to keep flying that must be considerably greater now and they do an amazing job, perhaps some of the city dealers who made a million or more in bonuses would like to make a donation to something really worthwhile

| | | Re: Yorkshire Air Ambulance Thanks for that STuart.
I did some volunteering for the East Anglian Air Ambulance this year at one of the Air shows up in Duxford.
I think Air Ambulances and the Lifeboat guys deserve all the support we can give them. |

| | | Re: Yorkshire Air Ambulance My favourite charities have always been (due in part to my youthful excessess) St Johns Ambulance and The Lifeboat Service, all the helicopters services are a worthwhile cause. |

| | | Re: Yorkshire Air Ambulance Turns out that the rescue was for a 58 year old man who'd slipped and hit his head. He spent the night in hospital but sounds as though he'll be OK.
One or two of the photos should be in the Sheffield/Derbyshire newspapers today, so if you live in the in area then keep an eye open for them | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
