| | | Mass Newbie Welcome ! Ok ...this is the only way i can think of doing this?
I have been here a while but as some of you will know was away a little while while getting to grips with doing a degree..
Anyway...it seems we are getting more popular by the day...I used to be able to keep up with the newbie intro's and hello's but its getting impossible...
So for fear of trying and missing people out...Id like to say a big hello to any newbies from the end of the summer onwards !!! Your all welcome here...im sure most of you have already made friends and made yourself at home? its a great place i just wish i could read and study every single thread properly but its very hard.
Happy new year y'all

| | | Re: Mass Newbie Welcome ! Dan there is no substitute for a personal greeting, you will be
rubber-stamping Christmas Cards next, take the time and trouble
You are bound to miss some but the ones you greet properly will
always remember you!
Sorry to come across as a misery but things like using capital letters
instead of continuous lower case show you are not lazy
OK I am a miserable old git

| | | Re: Mass Newbie Welcome ! I agree - I certainly don't greet every newcomer unless they mention something or somewhere close to my heart and I think that a load of "welcomes" can be a bit tedious, on the other hand if no one greets newcomers then they might feel rejected .... decisions, decisions .... So, like Dan, I'd be for saying welcome to all and every one and look forward to their comments and pictures. Quote:

| | | Re: Mass Newbie Welcome ! Thanks for the welcome. I have to say I agree with Nightshade individual welcomes are much better. All the newbies say what a friendly site it is, and that’s because it is personal, because people greet us one by one. Paul's idea of only saying “Hi” to the ones that have something in common with him or sound interesting is fine, which is probably why he didn’t say hello to me, especially when so many people are joining this great site each week. So please keep saying Hello or you might as well bin the "Hello Forum".
Sorry Dan, but nice to meet you anyway, how's the degree going.

I'm originally from Sheffield, left about 20 years ago. I haven't been back for a while, but visit family in and around Bakewell regularly.

| | | Re: Mass Newbie Welcome ! No, as I said, I think you're right. But it has stimulated a conversation on about what is 'right/wrong'/useful/necessary/boring &c ... I would hope that 'welcomes' actually included something constructive to say or ask.
... and nobody every welcomed me ..... Quote:

| | | Re: Mass Newbie Welcome ! Don't want to know anything in particular but do want to know all that you can tell us! I think the great thing about this forum is that people observe their locality and share it with other people who live in totally different habitats. You will, obviously, have noted vast differences in wildlife between Oxon and Sheffield - I am certainly still coming to terms with S. Yorks/N. Derbys after decades in the south-east.
Cheers, Paul Quote:

Dan | I assume that we are reffering to this - all those should be capital Is , not that i ( ) really care either way
