Last week I noticed Daily Express (I don't buy the Diana memorial!) saying that from tomorrow (10th) it would be about minus 12 degrees- only 24 degrees out then! It's now forecast to be about 12 or 13 tomorrow + mild for rest of week.

Any forecast for more than a few days in advance has to be taken with a pinch of salt. I remember as the record breaking July last year was coming to a close papers had all these headlines how August was going to be even hotter- what a damp squib that turned out to be!

I'm sure we will have the odd cold snap during the winter, I just want some sunshine.

Re: I'm desperately missing....

That's very true.

Not only is it warm(ish) today, albeit grey, damp and miserable, but I saw my first Red Admiral of the year flying around Horsham - it was trying to get into Argos for some reason.

Re: I'm desperately missing....

It was so dark and gray on Saturday when I was out at one of my favourite haunts, that I could hear a Tawny Owl calling…at 2:00pm! By the way, what’s a sun??

Re: I'm desperately missing....

I miss the sun, the light, endless days, flowers on the machair, t-shirts, ice-cream, chocolate...whoops forget the last one I am on a diet!

I am counting the minutes down, today sunrise was 9.06am, sunset was 4.06pm tomorrow...wait for it is 2m 39s longer.

I am not sure Maple. I have heard reports of the sun. I hear it is a round, yellow/white object sometimes seen in the sky. I suspect these stories to be untrue. Or at the very least as true as the tales of dragons we sometimes hear.

BTW. I saw a Barn Owl on my way home this evening. Second time in a week I have seen one over that particular field. I do feel lucky.

Re: I'm desperately missing....

IF You can believe them, it's supposed to be sunny tomorrow..over most of the UK. Whenever they say that, I always appear to be the bit that isn't the most.
I'm planning to spend a leisurely hours or so at our local Garden centre. They've given me permission to stay as long as I like, they've got reported sightings of Firecrest, Bullfinches on the Feeders, a live locus(!) in amongst their seed beds, as well as an unusually marked blackbird I've seen quite often but never had a chance to get a shot of.
No doubt I'll get none of them, but it's worth a go.
There I go again, believing the weather forecasters!!

Go for it Graham, it's guaranteed a nice day tomorrow because I'm at work all day

Re: I'm desperately missing....

Bad luck Roger. It should be a compulsory day off every time the sun shines after so much gloom for so long.

Re: I'm desperately missing....

Did someone say sun today? It's horizontal rain here again. Just had to put a bucket under the leak in the conservatory again. I think I'm going to drown....

It is not grey here today for the first time in weeks. I dont think it would actualy count as sunny but there are definate blue patches in the sky... Isnt the saying that if there is enough blue to make a pair of mens trousers the day is ok.
jaki... asking questions... like why do we put a u after a q when my fingers dont want to type it??

To improve your manual dexterity?
Why does everyone insist on writing from left to right, when my brain wants to write right to left?

Re: I'm desperately missing....

On a more optimistic note the sun has now come out here this afternoon, so I thought I'd try to catch some shots of the birds at the feeders. And now my camera has run out of batteries and I can't find the spares There are only squirrels at the feeders anyway at present - they are real posers but I've got more than enough shots of them.

I am glad that I am not the only one with a leaky conservatory. I was thinking of converting mine into an aquarium
