| | | Re: WAB Badge I have spoken to Stu briefly and his preference for the logo, for the BRAND, remains the words WILDABOUTBRITAIN coming out of the grass, as can be seen here. http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/connect
Its felt that other designs could confuse the BRAND and pigeon hole the aim, into one particular category.
This original design in itself may not be practical for the type of badge we have been discussing so I suggested to go with the Barbour type badge, as in a previous post, and with the words stacked as shown below.
Wild
About
Britain or
WILD
ABOUT
BRITAIN
The design would be simple - an enamel badge of a regal sort of colour - dark bottle green, burgundy or dark blue, with the words in brass. I guess a tad like the old prefects badges.
Only available in one colour and probably smaller than 20mm square, with rounded off corners.
How does that sound?
Any preferences on colours?
Any preferences on CAPITAL LETTERS or This Way (cant remember what its called) |

Either way would the words be aligned to the side or centered?

Any preferences on CAPITAL LETTERS or This Way (cant remember what its called) | I wasnt aware we had a logo as i always cut straight to the forum page...but seeing as we do i agree with stu that yes we should stick with that...same way all the organisations do...it would have been nice to have a small memebr of wildlife on it like the RSPB avocet or the KWT Adonis Blue but im not here to argue...a posh british racing/regal green gets my vote.
Everything in my entire life would be green if i could...im having real trouble finding a green rucksack at the moment by any of my favoured brands ( North face, Berghaus, etc etc)
If WAB does ever have an animal addition to its logo like i mentioned my vote is for an ermine coated Stoat in the classic heads up pose ! which to me should symbolise we like the animals even most others hate ( Sparrow hawks and Stoats...the cute killers) |

British Racing Green would be my choice of colour too, with the lettering in brass. Its a nice non offensive colour and is well alligned with the countryside |

| | | Re: WAB Badge Being a new member I failed to notice the green grass blue sky with title logo also. It makes little sense to dilute the identity of the organisation with multiple logos. I also take the point about the stag head, trophy ? would hate for that mistake to be made. If the badge is to be based on the grass/sky/wording approach please increase my badge requirements to 3, my 2 kids can wear one each also.

Hi Jonny
THIS badge project is NOT going to be based on that particular design. As I said earlier a badge of this type does not lend itself to this particular design as it is impractical to have such a design on a small lapel badge. The purpose of the badge on discussion here is almost an ID type badge - something discreet. I am sure that the grass / sky design will be utilised later.
Cheers

This is the sort of thing I am thinking off. This took 2 minutes so is not exactly the design, I would want to look at the typeface etc but this is the general size and idea.
British Racing Green with silver or brass lettering.
Nice and simple, inoffensive, not open to any interpretation. |

Edit.
PS Now all we need is the requisite number of pre-orders for it to go ahead.

If we do go brass it will be a 'dirty' brass and not staybright. I am exactly the same as you on this. I hate gold.
When I say dirty brass I mean like this eBay.co.uk: Vintage green Guilloche enamel school Prefect badge (item 230075027801 end time 13-Jan-07 19:33:31 GMT)
Incidentally, when at school I had one of these badges but the first R and the first E were reversed.
It described me perfectly |
