| | | What did you buy yourself for Christmas? I've just sent for a tuneable penny whistle for myself, as a late Christmas present. I wondered if any of you had found that the strain of buying presents for other people had driven you to treat yourself?
Christmas shopping would be cheaper for me if I didn't keep seeing things I'd like myself!

Obviously Christmas is a time of giving, this base accumulation of presents is quite unseemly.
Oh, who am I trying to kid - ordered myself a close-up filter & lens hood for my SHINY NEW CHRISTMAS CAMERA!

| | | Re: What did you buy yourself for Christmas? Since Father Christmas seems unaccountably to have forgotten to bring me the thermos flask and waterproof trousers I asked for, I'm off to buy them for myself. He did bring me some Leica 8x42 binoculars, though, so I forgive him |

| | | Re: What did you buy yourself for Christmas? We had a dog for Christmas, much tastier than the usual Turkey we found
On a serious note now, we had been visiting the local RSPCA centre for a few weeks looking at the dogs and then just prior to Xmas we found a lovely Lab X.
She will be one more important reason to get out and about in wild Britain (as if I ever needed an excuse.

| | Re: What did you buy yourself for Christmas? Hi Marvellous
I too got a Canon 400 - thanks to my wonderful wife (who couldn't think of what Santa should buy me). This is an upgrade from my 300D. One tip for you; if you want to treat yourself further, consider a 2GB Lexar Premium CompactFlash card as I did. 80x writing speed and I got over 50 shots before a pause. This is going to be great for wildlife photography I hope. |

| | | Re: What did you buy yourself for Christmas? Talking flasks, Smartie, has anyone else found that although the metal thermos flasks are unbreakable, they always leak. Has anyone found a make that don't, or am I doing something wrong? I have to tighten them as we give them a fair hammering on our travels!

Long may it remain that way too. |

I haven't actually wached mine yet. Am watching The Omega Factor, that was in my stocking too.
I will watch Planet Earth when I come down. (I'm still on a bit of a high after my Christmas trip)
