Trouble is, when there's a tv, people stare at it even when it's not switched on! And don't you hate it when you go to visit someone and they leave the tv on?

maybe they weren't expecting you or didn't want you to visit? , and hope that by leaving the TV on (and on a really naff program at that) you will go away sooner
