| | Just Arrived from Grange-over-Sands, Cumbria Hi All users.
Been intending to join you for a while now, but always have the the same problem TIME.
Made it this time though.
Just had to tell we {Anne & I] were out walking at Silverdale in Cumbria this morning, [on the road to Jenny Brown`s point] and found Blackberry bushes in full flower, surely this is a first for Dec.,
No photo though, left the camera at home did`nt we.
Could it be global warming to blame !!!
Well thats my intro, hope it`s of interest.
Could anyone say why birds prefere to use our garden bird bath in the winter rather than the summer & how do you stop Badgers from tearing up the lawn?
Happy Chistmas to all & best wishes for 2007. |

| | | Re: Just Arrived from Grange-over-Sands, Cumbria Hello joedee, a warm welcome to WAB. I saw blackberry bushes in flower last week at my local nature reserve. Can't answer the questions on the birds bathing or how to stop Badgers digging up your lawn, but I am sure someone else will.
A Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year to you as well.

We've got blackberries and gorse in flower on the hills here, as well as marigolds, cyclamen, irises, roses, borage, hebes, and fuchias in the garden.
The Badgers dig my lawn less the more food I put out for them, peanuts, apples, pears, raisins, etc., but they eat earthworms, so they are doing what they need to do! I consider the lawn a small price to pay for the pleasure of having Badgers!
Welcome to WAB.
