| | | Re: Monty Don- Growing out of trouble Dammit.......im getting fed up with this? what is it nowadays.
This series just started 2 or 3 weeks ago....im just getting to know the names, the characters...what they plan to do....etc.....thinking how nice to settle in for the winter watching them growing stuff on their smallholding....raising stock etc.....was so looking forward to watching the progress.....and yet again....thats it....last program of the series tonight already?
the new "series" of river cottage was a pitiful 3 episodes.....followed by a 2 episode "series" of "river cottage roadtrip"
The "series" earlier in the year " The only black farmers" which was lining up to be great was all over in 3 or 4 episodes.
Even the superb Jimmys farm is all over in 4 hour long episodes?
now im sure when i was growing up...or not even that long back...a "Series" was something you could follow for a good 12 weeks sometimes more?
it annoys me...i get all excited about a new thing....plan my weekly night to watch it....just start to tell people they should watch it....then its all over in a flash?
Grrrrrrrr
Dan
p.s The last in what could have been a great series with monty is on tonight at 9pm bbc2 |

| | | Re: Monty Don- Growing out of trouble No i just hate getting into something then its all over before it started.....and i think many women will identify with that ha ha
saying that although very short it was a great series ...i just wish they had said it was going to be entirely about the addicts, monty and the project and nada about growing things, running a smallholding and the livestock.....but still good.

| | | Re: Monty Don- Growing out of trouble I must have caught the last episode last night! . I loved it, what a wonderful man he is. I especially liked the part where he marched off to the Home Office to talk about the project .
That one episode made me cry so the whole series must have been great. Can't wait to see a second one *fingers crossed*.

| | | Re: Monty Don- Growing out of trouble I never got round to watching it, work commitments, but agree with Dan. Why can't they make these series longer?
Why can't we have regular, permanent even, programmes of this sort, in the same way that we do the soap operas? I enjoy the Longleat programme which I've sometimes caught in the mornings, with Ben Fogel and Kate Humbrill, because you get to know the keepers, and the individual animals.
A whole year in someone's garden or estate would be really interesting and educational to watch, especially if it were not only the gardening but the wildlife too.

I havent even heard of this Monty Don programme....which is a shame as it sounds fascinating, so hopefully they will re-run it soon.
You all have me intrigued now though, the last episode with 'the boy' obviously stirred up the emotions in all of you...WHAT HAPPENED????

Chip | Hello Chip
The part that got to me was that one lad unfortunately died of an overdose and at the end of the year the other participants in the scheme planted a tree for him at the farm and his friend said a few words. To be honest I could burst into tears thinking about it now!
I hope Monty gets his request granted to make a network of these farms all over the country because it's just blantantly obvious that it works better than anything that's been tried before. Even the one guy who had to leave because he just wasn't ready for the Farm re-visited the group and the end of year BBQ and had got himself well on the road to recovery.

Chip | I watch more You Tube than normal telly these days . Did anyone see 'The Ruby and The Smoke' last night on BBC1? That was brilliant, but then again I'm a Philip Pullman fan anyway . Apart from that I've been rather disappointed with the Christmas TV schedule this year ,
