| | | Re: True or false When ashore they drink salt water from anywhere they can find it, plus even off themselves if it rains. But this only happens when they’re ashore for breeding.
When at sea they have no choice but to drink saltwater either directly or through the fish they eat. They then do as honeybee and smartie said, and get rid of the excess salt that’s contained in their blood by using special glands as mentioned. It’s then expelled through the nostrils/beak.

Oh well I think I will reveal my findings
"Like other seabirds, penguins have glands in the bill that help rid the body of excess salt. The secretion of salt and fluid often collect as droplets on the bill and are shaken off. These glands are so effective that penguins can drink sea water without ill effects"

In this case it's what animals drink/consume to live.
I suppose the question could have been: Penguins get their water/liquid intake from saltwater.. true of false? |

By the logic in the original statement, I can turn tomatoe soup into freshwater, even salt water in small quantities. |

| | | Re: True or false OK, Penguins, and other sea birds take in salt water and by means of a filter system remove the salt from the water. This salt is stored in a gland at the base of the beak and the penguins tap their beaks on a boulder or some such to remove the stored salt solution
Jaki
PS. I cant find the site I read this on again.. sorry
