| | | Dangerous driving Thank you for your support in my excited moment over my goldcrest. Now a question. Is being a keen birdwatcher not something that compliment's one's driving skills? Discuss.....
Having been a bird fan for a number of years, I have got into the unconscious habit of spotting movement out of the corner of my eye and immediately checking to see what it is. This is not a good idea when driving yet this is the most common time that the phenomenon occurs. Obviously my need to identify whether or not that is a kestrel or sparrowhawk is of the utmost importance as is my need to admire the buzzards which are very common where I live but still stir a little excitement when I see them.
Is there a cure for my affliction before I kill myself and or other road users? |

Trouble is that not only do I want to ID the birds but if there is a flock then I try to get some idea of numbers.

Everyone drives too fast, it's out duty to slow things down whilst we count the birds! |

| | | Re: Dangerous driving Lol, I agree with Graham and that applies to slooowing down in general.
When I went out with our local RSPB group as a teen I remeber one guy had a "warning, birdwatcher driving" sticker on his car. I began to see why!
I now do that and am constantly saying to the kids - ooh did you see...... but I do try and drive carefully too!
