| | Wild About the World .... again Hello folks. I've been lurking round WAW for a couple of weeks and not seen anyone else ...
I know some of us had problems getting on to the site but everything is okay now so why not give it a whirl? Worldwide Wildlife
PS: while you're there, have a look at some of the Greek insect photos I've uploaded - would love to know what some of them are? |

| | Re: Wild About the World .... again Are you talking about the 'links' such as "Birds", "Insects"....?
Yes, while 'clickable', these are dead *but* if you click on either "Forum" or "Gallery", you'll get through ......
WAW is different in many ways from WAB and, I suspect, has a few glitches but most of it seems to be working .... Quote:

This would be because I have yet to receive the activation mail

jaki | My problem is exactly the same a Jaki describes it, try after try but no receipt of the activation email, and no response of you report it to the administrator. |

jaki | I found that my problem seemed to be linked to me being on AOL, just seems that you cannot stop AOL from filtering out the activation email, I have had this problem elsewhere .... a solution for some people might therefore to set up an Hotmail account and register from there you may (if you have already tried to register using your WAB user name) to select a new username. It should work ok from there. I suggest you try this method especially if you too are on AOL and having the same problem, as it may well be that the administrator may not get your emailing either. |

| | | Re: Wild About the World .... again Hi Paul, I was the ninth member in Wild about the World and was quite enthusiastic at first, however I became dispondent with the teething problems. After writing a large article about my experiances with the Australian Osprey and then with the hash up of the pictures I wanted to download with the article, I have temporarily abandoned participation in that forum for a while. As also have I slowed down participation with this forum. It is, "to me" the silly way of putting pictures with the threads these two forums have, why they dont have the same way as the Bird Forum, is beyond me. The other problem is that I am involved with other forums and my time on the computer is streached a bit. I will get back there again one day so will look forward to the reading of your exploits |

| | | Re: Wild About the World .... again Glad to find more people getting on. A great shame about your osprey story, Tanny - would have liked to see that. Yes, the different ways of handling images suit different people, I suppose (I find the *minimum* size restriction confusing) - but you get used to them eventually ....
It would be good to know more about the wider world though ... including what some of my plants and animals are! Quote:

On the other point all new sites have teething issues (probably including bird forum when it was young), they will be sorted in time and given that stu has put both sites up largely at his own expense and invested huge time in administrating them it seems a bit harsh to chip just because everything doesnt work perfectly first time.

| | | Re: Wild About the World .... again Its too easy to moan about something you have little understanding of. Unfortunately, as Pete states, other methods were abused and this culminated in changes being made whereby everybody had to comply. This has happened with quite a few aspects of the site that have had to be changed. However these changes were not made lightly and many people were consulted.
Was a time when people disagreed with the way that this site was 'moderated'.
Then came a time when people moaned because it wasn't being moderated to their liking.
It seems that certain individuals will never be satisfied with the way the site is run. Perhaps we should just give them all their money back |
