| | | Photo gallery question Apologies for posting this here but I am not sure where to direct my query or who to message regarding it ...
I have twice now tried uploading a photo of a Tachinid fly to the gallery and it hasn't been put up. Now if it isn't good enough for the gallery then I quite understand but I would just like to know where I am going wrong otherwise I will just keep trying to upload it. lol
If someone in the know could drop me a line I would be grateful.
Many thanks,

| | | Re: Photo gallery question Hi Susie,
I think I processed this earlier. If we don't have a full common name and scientific name, and if the identification of these names is beyond the skills of the editor, then such images are normally put in the Unidentified Gallery. So if you visit your personal gallery below you will see the fly there, but it won't appear in the 'latest 20 images' page because images to the Unidentified Gallery are normally unmoderated. http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/ga...searchid=31706
I hope this clarifies things

| | | Re: Photo gallery question Aha! Thank you, there it is. That is splendid and very kind of you to reply. http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/ga...age-23613.html
While I am here may I just ask how I a photo can be moved to the correct section once a name has been found for it?

| | | Re: Photo gallery question If you view your image you will see a 'Report Image' tab above and to the right of the reply box. If you click this you can then state the full ID and request that it be renamed and moved.
You should perhaps start a new thread in the insect forum to request an ID. You can embed the photo into your thread by simply copying the BB code (which is in the box below your image) into the thread.

| | | Re: Photo gallery question That's interesting to know - I thought the 'Report Image' tab was for reporting anything indecent put on ... useful because I just fouled up an upload. Thanks.
Good to see you back Susie Quote:

| | | Re: Photo gallery question the 'report image' tab is newly introduced because we've been struggling to find an efficient way in which people can report a new ID and requst an image to be renamed and moved. It now alerts the moderators in a different way to the previous arrangement so hopefully this new system will work OK.

| | | Re: Photo gallery question Thankees. Hmmm - well I did know what it is, I shall go and find out again. I don't think it is Fera, that is the other Tachinid photo I have.
Thank you for the welcome back, Paul. It is nice to be back online.

| | | Re: Photo gallery question Susie - it looks like it could be tachina ferra to me, it certainly has the red/orange legs which are supposed to one of the features that distinguish it from all the other tacinidaes.
Having said that I'm no authority on flies and am probably completely wrong |

Having said that I'm no authority on flies and am probably completely wrong | I'd say you were right fourwings-except for the spelling Tachina fera
