| | | camouflage Walking about I was struck how many people walk along main roads dressed from head to foot in dark clothing not a patch of light clothing to be seen.
I was always told that the human eye is drawn to highlights, someone wearing discreet or camouflage clothing with bare hands or face are wasting their time, a lot of birds (wood pigeon for one can see the white neck flashes of another pigeon from a mile away)are also attracted to highlights and movement.
So if you are walking and the light is going wear or carry something light , wear a reflective bandolier or similar be safe be seen
People who are out stalking the local wildlife, wear gloves and a hat to cut down the hightlights. |

| | | Re: camouflage Good advice, nightshade. It's especially useful to wear something light or reflective on the bits of you that move most - ankles and wrists. Cycling shops should be able to sell you reflective bands.
Mind you, even wearing a bright yellow jacket doesn't necessarily mean that you'll be seen, even in broad daylight (as I know to my cost!).

what happened Henrya?
Endquote
It's a longish story, but basically I was cycling to work one bright morning and white-van-man decided to use the same bit of road as me and my little bicycle. "Sorry mate, didn't see you" he said as he scraped me off the road and took me to casualty, where they failed to notice that I'd broken my neck and sent me home with some painkillers. But I survived, which is the main thing!
