What is it with Richmond in London?
First we get 100 parakeets escape, multiply and take up residence, then we get a load of gazelles dumped in Richmond park and Bushey park. If that wasn't enough we now have an escaped vulture on the loose in Richmond. |

Yes, there was a brilliant photo of this White-backed Vulture in yesterday's Evening Standard, taken by one of the gardeners. He said there were flocks of Crows, Magpies + Ring-necked Parakeets mobbing the new boy, but he seemed pretty indifferent to all the fuss. Makes a change to escaped Black Swans + other wildfowl that turn up from time to time on Pen Ponds.
Richmond Park is a tremendous place on the outskirts of London for all manner of species including some very rare invertebrates. |
