| | | Conundrum or Hoax? As it was related to me:a group of scientists studying a pond in the Swiss Alps noticed a Duck egg in the water(I assume it was floating) curiosity was aroused and it was brought ashore, while being looked at, movement was detected so the egg was carefully chipped open and to their suprise inside were 3 live Minnows (the eggshell was intact previously)
Apparently this story has been sent to New Scientist magazine
What do you think?

| | | Re: Conundrum or Hoax? Has this been recorded before, fish living in duck eggs?
It seems a bit dodgy that some scientists were studying the lake and hey presto an egg appears with three minnows and the egg still intact? |

| | | Re: Conundrum or Hoax? I remember reading about this. At the time it was suggested there could have been a very fine crack in the egg but who knows. I haven't looked it up since then.
Course after reading the Dan Brown novel Deception Point (which I KNOW is not true!) one could trust very little that is discovered!!!

| | | Re: Conundrum or Hoax? Assuming all the data is correct is it physically possible either as eggs or developing fish
there are instances of toads being found in apparently solid lumps of coal

I don't think that there is any good evidence for this, though one reads reports in the old literature.
