I have been wondering what species of Wildlife has the greatest number of common names.
For a start:- Lapwing, Green Plover, Peewit
or
Old Man's Beard, Traveller's Joy, Wild Clematis, Devil's Guts
I am sure there must be others, so put your thinking caps on! |

Bonxie - Great Skua
Dab Chick - Little Grebe
Tit mouse - blue/great tits (or something like that!) Wood Mouse - Long tailed field mouse Field Vole - Short tailed vole
Muntjac - Barking Deer (oh yes, how true, especially when they bark not 20 feet from the front door, non stop!) |

Wild Arum - Cuckoo Pint - Lords and Ladies - Jack in the pulpit - Wake Robin and lots of others, some of which would doubtless disappear in a blizzard of asterisks!

henrya, for wild arum I´ve also heard of soldiers and sailers, and a quick search has turned up: parson in the pulpit, Jenny come down the lane, and jump up and kiss me. | |
