First sighting of the winter

Somebody wrote a letter to the Telegraph saying that he had spotted the first jump leads of the winter - he did not say whether or not he was a WABer - probably not as no Latin name or photo was included and the location and circumstances of the spot were omitted. However, he clearly has an oddball sense of humour and so perhaps should be invited to join.

Re: First sighting of the winter

Do these "Jump Leads" fly in, or do they produce threads of silk like spiderlings and float in?

How depressing, let's get through autumn before we start worrying about winter!

Jump Leads the things you have in the boot all summer but as soon as you go to work then come home in the dark with the heavy use of an undercharged battery mixed with mist and damp and cold makes starting difficult, they suddenly hide in the shed /garage

Re: First sighting of the winter

Ah yes jump leads - Leadicus jumpi, Mine have established a natural habitat under the front seat - trouble is they have developed a semi parasitic relationship with the less often seen species Towi ropus and are thus impossible to bring back into captivity

Please... do not forget the much maligned Icei scrapecus and the sterling work they do at great peril to themselves.
