Sunset over Stonehenge

Didn't know where to put these photos on here so stuck them in the treehouse instead.

Hope you like them

Re: Sunset over Stonehenge

Yes, lovely pics. I went to stonehenge last May and tried to get some sunset shots. It ended up raining and being very cloudy so didnt stay out long. It was the first time i had been and was a bit dissapointed, not by the stones but by the fencing off of them and the fact that you had to pay to get within it. I had absolutly no money as i was really skint, and it felt like all the forign tourists (and there were many) could go visit the stones close up but myself, Chris and our friends could not (and it is our heritage).

I understand that they have to be preserved as they get so many visitors, but i was disappointed that i could not visit them properly.

Re: Sunset over Stonehenge

I met a large warrior complete with sword the last time I visited
who(only) when asked explained that his group had been banned
from a religous site which is our heritage

Re: Sunset over Stonehenge

Yep I agree too. Although I am a foreigner I dislike that the English Heritage, saying is to protect and promote English spectacular historic environment, they are in reality, destroying the landscape to try to sell it.

I just went once and I dont have fancy to go again, as you say the barriers ,the coffee shops and selling, selling everything, finally I felt myself in the middle of Oxford street in London. . Even £11.00 or more it is excessive).

The same impression I got when I visited the castle in Edinburgh. All was too shiny and clean that you dont believe that you are visiting an old castle or watching history. Finally I was wondering what it was reality and what was just ornement to made it more attractive to turists.
....mmm I think I will write all this to the english heritage
