any ideas what this is

found on a working party on willen island on sunday - its growing arround the leaf of a plantain or similar and is about 4cm in length - guesses so far include some sort of fungus , eggs of siome description or goat slobber - although I think we can rule out the latter

I would say eggs of somesort but i cant say i have seen anything like it before other than a bowl of semolina?

We've got lots of it up here as well, so its definitely well-travelled. I think it must be a slimemould of some sort.

Definitely a Slime Mould - one of the Dog Vomit slime moulds (there are at least two species that have this name)
