Do you have any activity in mind Steve? I am always up for a meet but do you have something specific planned?

Nothing planned, just thought it would be good to meet up with people who contribute to the site and are keen on wildlife.

Re: WAB Suffolk Get Together Anyone??

I'll have a think about where we could go if you like, Alton Water is supposed to be quite good, there's also Trimley Marshes, Lackford Lakes nr Bury St Edmunds and a host other sites.

Plenty of places to visit and a fair few watering holes near by as well.

Steve

Re: WAB Suffolk Get Together Anyone??

Sounds good to me, I do need a bit of notice to sort out child minding,
Alton water is ok, I like their hide.
Trimley marshes is great but you need to enjoy a good walk.

Re: WAB Suffolk Get Together Anyone??

A colleague I used to work with helps out at Trimley Marshes. He's a keen photographer as well.

I believe it's a 2 km walk to the marsh hides.

Minsmere would be good, there's always plenty to see there.

Shall we agree on Minsmere or does anybody else have any other preferences??

Suffolk is too far for me but if anyone fancies a meet up down the South of the country I'd love to meet you all.

Minsmere at the end of April next year would be perfect. Plenty of time to organise and plenty of birds to see. You can spend a whole day there and still not do it all.

That would be my ideal meet.

John

I don't know if your interested but a few of us are meeting at Titchwell on October 28th. If your interested let me know.

I have booked that week off work and will be drifting around East Anglia throughout that week, stopping wherever I am at the end of the day and then birding from that point the next day.

John

I'd love to join in on a Minsmere visit.
I have a few busy weekends coming up (as the fireworks season approaches) but if I'm free, I'm in.

If we wanted to set something up in the south the British wildlife centre at Lingfield in surrey is well worth a visit - If you go during the week you can get into enclosure access for 40 notes each , but even without this fantastic pics / views are available from outside the enclosures

The Wildwood Centre in Kent could be another good one, plus of course there are numerous bird reserves etc , also although not british wildlife related there is a big cat breeding project near maidstone.

Moving slightly further north the UKwolf Trust near reading , Shuttleworth birds of prey centre near bedford , and Santago big cat project near WGC are all worth a look.

Moving further north and west still batsford arboretumn and the Cotswold falconry centre both at moreton in the marsh are well worth a visit at this time of year.

Hi Steve

I hope you still have my number. I knackered my mobile and lost yours, along with many other contacts I had.

We are meeting up at 09:30am on the Titchwell car park.

Let us know if you can come. It would be good to meet up again.

John

There's some good ideas there, Eeyore.

I'm gonna be a bit tied up for a while but will definitely look to sorting something out later in the year or early in the New Year.

hmmm these seem to be more places to get good photos rather than to find wildlife in natural habitats?

There are lots of good reserves we'll have to organise a good group trip next year down south, maybe do some chalk downland on an orchid hunt or maybe Cliffe pools in the late winter? Maybe both?

Re: WAB Suffolk Get Together Anyone??

How about Denbies Hillside, Surrey, for butterflies and then a tour of the vinyard *hic!*

I guess it all depends on what time of year and what we want to see.
