Plastic or copper heating pipes???

We are getting a couple of extra radiators added to our central heating system and the plumber has said he will use plastic piping as that is what is used now plus they are only half the price of the traditional copper.

Now we have heard differing opinions as to whether plastic pipes are any good or are more likely to leak and cause problems in the future etc.

So the question is do we go with the plastic or pay more for copper, so we wondered if anybody has got plastic pipes and have you had any problems or is there a plumber in the house who can advise.

Re: Plastic or copper heating pipes???

We have some plastic piping. It's absolutely sound. We've had no problems and it's been there for a couple of years now. my husband has been in the building industry for 28 years and he's said it's brill too.

Re: Plastic or copper heating pipes???

I haven't seen any plastic yet which does not go brittle with age, except for that which goes soft. Question is, how long? Depends on the plastic and the conditions.
